Name: Randi Burton Position: Head Coach Age: 23 Level: Level 2 (working on Level 3) Randi Burton is no stranger to Synchro; this will be her 15th year of involvement with the sport. As a kid she watched her older sister swim which eventually led to her joining when she was 7. She swam 11 years; 9 in ‘B’ competitive and 2 in Tier 6 ‘Open’ when the system was changed. As an athlete she won various awards for her swimming including Synchro Alberta’s 12 and Under Athlete of the Year, and Most Outstanding Swimmer Award. In 2003 she received a scholarship for Synchro and went to the United States to swim for Walsh University in Ohio. There she qualified to participate in the USA Synchro Collegiate Nationals, and she was chosen by her university to swim all four of the events she competed in – figures, solo, duet, and team. In the 2005/2006 Season, she returned to the pool as an athlete to compete in a Tier 6 ‘Open’ duet with Southern Synchro Coach - Lindsey Janecke; where they qualified for Canadian Nationals and even made it into the finals. After retiring as an athlete she became heavily involved in coaching she is now a fully certified Level 2 coach, which qualifies her to coach Tiers 1 - 5 and is currently working on her Level 3 (high performance) designation.
